Drop Kick the TV

This isn't about spanking just my every day life

4yrs ago when Tyler and I moved into the place were in now he agreed with me no tv in our room.  Well as time went on some how a tv got placed in our room and he started watching movies in there. We had no cable just a dvd player and movies.  Well he likes scarey movies and I do not. I would be trying to sleep and hear girls screaming and saws going etc ugh!! Well I decided that if I got cable put in our room maybe I wouldn't have to hear the screaming and he would spank more because of the noise we could turn it up.

Well the horror movies stopped but it didn't help the spanking lol..  Then he is a night owl and so am I but I need sleep. He can go to bed at 2am and get up at 5 am but I can NOT. You want to know why he can do that because if the kids don't have sports going on he comes home and sleeps till 8 or 9 pm guess what I CAN NOT!!! lol

So anyway we have talked and talked about turning the tv off so I can sleep. I don't think that asking him to turn the tv off at midnight is a big deal. I mean it is midnight and we are not teenagers anymore. Cripe I'm not in my 20's anymore and he's not even in his 30's anymore!!! We need sleep. Well at times he will turn the tv off  and sometimes he wont. Its just till I go to sleep then once i'm asleep he can turn it back on.

Well lastnight I was laying down to go to sleep and he came in.

I said "Your turning the tv on aren't your?"

"Yes I had it off lastnight. I need the tv to sleep we need to compromise."

"Well I don't feel its really a compromise area because its for my health I need sleep. I already fight energy issues as it is."

" I know you do I guess I'm an ass"

Ok so I just have to laugh because when he says I make him feel like crap and he feels like an ass when he does bla bla then OK stop doing that!!!  I mean I'm just saying. Of course I don't just say it out loud to him.

I run an office and I work by myself most of the day. Its hard sitting at the computer and keeping energy. Plus I fight insomnia and when I reach a certain point like 2am I cant sleep.

I started sighing and heeving and whatever noises I could make and flopping around the bed because I was annoyed and couldn't sleep. Finally at 2 am he turns the TV off!!! Well guess what people??  Its tooo late. I hit the point of no return. It is now 2 am and my body has given up on sleep. Sooo 4 am rolls around and that's the last I saw the time.

Guess who was laying next to me snoring!! Yup Tyler GAH!!!

I'm sooo tempted at times to take the tv out of our room while hes gone and see what he says.  I just don't think hes being fair. Like I told him if he needed to sleep and couldn't with the tv on I wouldn't  be in there with the tv because he's rude. When he allow it anyway?? Umm yeah probably not..

I really don't know what this post was about. I guess just to throw it out there and be real.

Be really annoyed at my husband and be ready to drop kick the TV!!!!

  1. Ugh! Daisy, I hear you. I too fight insomnia and have to get up the next morning for work. Like you, I hit the point where I completely give up on sleep about the same time. In fact, I was still awake at 4am this morning.

There is no way I would be able to sleep with the TV going. Fortunately, there isn't one in our room.

    Hugs,
    Roz

  2. I fight insomnia as well. My wife sleeps soundly all night. Lucky her.

I get to bed at 10 PM because I am up by 5 AM so I need sleep. She reads with the light on at midnight, she needs it to relax. But, she is quiet most of the time. We do not have a TV in our room, it would drive me crazy.

  3. May I suggest head phones for your hubby and a mask for you. Might work.

  4. I was going to suggest what Sunny said. I also would add ear plugs for you.
Also, what if you moved out to the couch??? Jk
Good luck. This is a tough one. :)

  5. I hate having a tv in our room. Even if the sound is down, I subconsciously still hear it and have very weird dreams, etc. I'm certain you know what I mean. If tv is to be on, sleep downstairs on the sofa. I know that is cruel, but I need my sleep to function. It's been a battle at times in my house.

  6. I feel for you - my hubby and I struggle with this, but in the opposite. He needs super quiet and dark to fall asleep - and he does it the minute his head hits the pillow. I need to wind down, and used to have the tv on or read a book....if it's too dark & quiet before I'm sleepy enough, I can't fall asleep. :/ But what I do now, is listen to a book on my ipod - then it's dark & quiet for him, and I have something to drift off to. It works well - accept sometimes I wake up all tangled in the ear bud cords, lol. But still, it's worth it for the peace between us.

Hope you two find a good compromise...

    :) Cali

  7. I'm the same as many of the others. I hate the TV in our room, resisted it for a long time. He watches creepy stuff while I try to go to sleep.

It occurs to me that if I suggested separate rooms he might move the TV.

  8. Yup, you need to come to some conclusion/compromise and some serious communication over this. I love that you are together at night--it would be hard if he watched tv somewhere else and you were never in the same room.

Sunny's idea is perhaps an idea if he really needs it on.

    1. Well he's been muting it till I go to sleep or I take muscle relaxers which I'm supposed to for my arms anyway

  9. Honestly, that is really rude and disrespectful of him to do anything that keeps you from your sleep. If he wants to watch tv, let him watch it elsewhere. If it were me, I probably would have turned it back on to some really LOUD comedy at 2 am when I woke up. Haha
